Gerenuk – almost on stilts

It was the end of the day and the light was fading. As we drove towards the camp we passed through an area where we would not normally see many animals but it just goes to show in Africa you never can tell – round the next bend maybe … feeding gerenuk! What was so amazing here was that it was out in the open and there were 4 of them all stood on their hind-legs at the same time! With so little scrub around them you could see how they balanced really clearly and their amazing white abdomen with its black edge defining it.
